As I approach the final week before I leave for New York to play in one of the biggest games of my life, my training is becoming more intense. During this past week I lifted weights four days out of the five weekdays. Before I hit the gym, I like to drink a ProteinBlitz powder drink. I truly feel this helps me during my workouts. Before when I didn’t drink ProteinBlitz, my workouts were good, but I felt like I stayed at the same workout level. Drinking ProteinBlitz before my workouts, I in some way feel more energized and feel like I have more endurance during my workouts. This in return helps me push myself harder with my workouts and I am able to get more out of the workouts I am doing. I wasn’t able to this week, but normally I also like to drink another ProteinBlitz 30 minutes after my workout. This stuff is amazing to me and has truly helped me with my high activity level, especially since I am an above the knee amputee.
On Friday, and this past weekend, I focused more on my basketball game. I stayed after the gym closed and worked on my game. Trying to focus more on my endurance and mobility, since I am an amputee, I ran alot more this weekend and worked on different moves to try to beat my defender. Of course all of this can quickly test my endurance, but it was nice to have the protein waters during this type of workout to help. I do stay very active and I am in pretty good shape given my amputation, but I can definitely tell a difference when I do drink the protein waters and blitz while I am practicing or playing a basketball game. I tend to not get as tired as quick and I feel I have a small boost of endurance to continue going.
I felt this past week and weekend with my weight training and basketball practice was one of the best I have had in awhile. This coming week is my final week before I leave for New York to play in a stand up basketball game that my team, Amp 1, will be playing against an all high school team. The game will really be amputees vs. able bodied athletes. Even though we will be playing for a good cause, this game will be a big test for us. I know we are going in the game as the underdogs just because of our amputations. Amputees usually play basketball in a wheelchair, but Amp 1 doesn’t. We play stand up basketball just like everyone else and created this outlet on our own. I feel if we can go to New York and beat an all able bodied team, it could possibly help take Amp 1 to the next level. That is why I train and work as hard as I possibly can to make sure my leg and game are at their peak so I can leave it all on the court that night. Designer Whey products have definitely helped play a major role in my performance this past year in helping me perform to my best ability. New York, Amp 1 is coming!
