It’s week five, and the contestants who had to compete from home are now back on the ranch.  As the players welcome back Aubrey, Laura, Sione, Shannon, Cathy, and Carla, Bob sits his team down to warn them of how much more competitive the ranch will be now that everyone is back.  Meanwhile, Jillian was sad but unsurprised to find Dan and Dave gone.

The at-home contestants get weighed in, the event everyone was waiting for.  Some contestants did fairly well with Shannon losing fifteen pounds, but others, such as Aubrey, who only lost two pounds, have their work on the ranch cut out for them.  Jillian and Bob recognize that it isn’t realistic to expect the at-home contestants to have lost as much weight as those on the ranch, but they aren’t taking any excuses for low weight losses.  In the end, Sione wins immunity for himself and Filipe with a loss of twenty-five pounds.

The challenge this week had players for either a two-pound pass or $5000 cash.  The players are tied together with a rope that is wound around a big pipe.  In order to win the challenge, they need to unwind themselves enough to make it to the finish line.  This challenge emphasized team work.  While Joelle is intrigued by the money, Carla tells her that they will be playing for the pass.  In the end, Aubrey and Mandi of the yellow team win the challenge and have to decide on their prize.

It comes down to the last chance work out, the first time that the at-home players have worked with Jillian and Bob in thirty days.  Jillian pushes her team, reminding them that they are gone as soon as they fall below the yellow line due to having only three teams to Bob’s five.  On Bob’s side, Joelle is still slacking off, and Carla has to work extra hard to make up for her lack of dedication.

At the weigh-in, the yellow team decides to take the two-pound pass.  Joelle says that she might have low numbers, but it doesn’t matter because Carla has been working hard, and she still has the other members on her team to save her.  When it’s revealed that she lost no weight this week, she falls below the yellow line.  The Silver team, of Joelle and Carla, and the Brown Team, of Mike and Ron, go up for elimination.

Carla and Aubrey get upset with Joelle for being selfish and not dedicating herself to her team.  Meanwhile, Mike reminds the contestants that he and his father are committed and have been working hard since the beginning while Joelle has failed to show any progress.  Carla and Joelle ended up getting voted off, and everyone let Carla know that it wasn’t because of her and let her know that she could definitely still win in the finale.

After last week’s surprising elimination, some of the contestants voiced complaints over the final outcome.  Filipe in particular was angry, but Jillian’s team pointed out that, with Damien gone, Bob’s team was now considerably weaker than theirs.

We checked in with the contestants who are at home and saw that some were working hard and some haven’t changed their lifestyles at all.  Sione has converted his tv watching time to working out in the gym, and Tara is trying to balance taking care of her children with getting in some exercise, as well.  But Dave is still smoking and eating large quantities of food with little exercise.

Blaine gets to go home this week because his wife is in labor with their fourth child.  He’ll be gone for the challenges and workouts, but he’ll be back at the end of the week for the weigh-in.

The contestants then go out to a tailgating party since it’s Super Bowl week.  Celebrity chef Curtis Stone is there to teach them about how unhealthy the snacks people eat while watching football are.  He has them guess the amount of calories in different foods, and the top three players will win an opportunity for him to show them how to prepare healthier alternatives.  And the top winner will visit their partner’s home to have a one-on-one healthy cooking lesson with them.  They’ll also get a two pound pass for the next weigh-in.

Helen, Kristin, and Dan were the lucky winners who learned how to prepare healthy football snacks.  And Dan was the overall winner, so Curtis headed out to North Carolina to cook with Dave.

Dave was really surprised to see Curtis Stone show up at his house, and he confessed that he hadn’t been eating healthy since being back at home.  Curtis showed him some easy meals to make that would be filling, delicious, and healthy.  Dave was really surprised at how tasty the meal they made together was.

This week’s challenge revolved around the NFL with two-time MVP Kurt Warner, the quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, participating.  This week’s prize was immunity and a guarantee of being able to bring their partner back to the ranch.  To win, the players have to sprint down the field, picking up footballs, and putting them in other players’ bins.  Whenever a player has five balls in their bin, they are out.  The last person standing wins.  It came down to Helen and Joelle, but Helen beat her out and was happy that Shannon would be coming back to the ranch.

This week’s weigh-in waas the most important so far because it determined whose partner would be coming back to the ranch and who would be going home.  Surprisingly, their partners showed up before the weigh-in for a brief reunion.  In the end, father and son, Mike and Ron, fell below the yellow line with Dan.  Tara grew frustrated when Dave admitted he didn’t want to be on the ranch after Dan had worked so hard to get him there.  The votes were tied, and it all came down to Filipe.  He voted to send Dan and Dave home and give the brown team at least one more week.

This season’s players are using The Biggest Loser Protein as part of a healthy diet.  Look for it in season seven episodes!

Emotions were heightened after the season’s first elimination.  Everyone was very upset about having to get rid of Jerry, but Dan expressed immense gratitude at being allowed to stay on the ranch.  It’s clear that everyone would have rather voted off Joelle since she didn’t really want to be there anyway.

Checking in at home, we see that not everyone is able to resist the temptation of eating whatever they want without trainers Jillian and Bob around.  This makes the week’s temptation round even more difficult.  Ali brings the contestants to a room filled with treats that have their calorie content posted right next to them.  Each player gets five minutes in the room to eat as much as they want.  The team that eats the most calories gets to have a personal training session at home.  But no player gets to know how many calories their partner consumed since they had to do this challenge from home.

In the end, we find out that Carla consumed a total of 2,710 calories in order to get Joelle home with Bob in tote.  Joelle, who had eaten nothing, was really excited to be able to go home yet still resist temptation.  Her gloating, however, upset the rest of the team who felt that she didn’t deserve it.

While in Detroit, Carla and Bob confront Joelle about her lack of motivation.  Carla tells Joelle to remember that she has a team member and asks her how she’d feel if she knew that Carla weren’t holding up her end. They end up getting into a fight over the issue, however, with Carla telling Joelle that she needs to work twice as hard at the ranch.  Joelle finally slams down her dumbbell and tells Carla to stop doing Bob’s job.  The two go on fighting until a very annoyed Bob has to intervene.

Back at the ranch, Mandi is having a difficult time being away from her family and children.  Jillian takes her aside and talks about how “emotionally heavy” she is and asks her to look at her time on the ranch as a learning experience that will benefit her and her family in the end.

This week’s challenge had the players jumping over swinging beams.  Whoever jumped for the longest amount of time wins immunity at the weigh-in.  After two hours, it comes to Kristin and Tara.  Kristin misses a step, though, giving the win to Tara.

At the weigh-in, both Damien and Joelle fall below the yellow line, and you can tell that Joelle is afraid of retribution from Carla if she gets voted off.  When Tara asks Joelle is she really wants to be there, she hesitates  Even though Bob’s entire team wants Joelle gone, Damien ends up being the one to go, shocking everyone.

After all the teams were split with one from each partnership going home, those who went home realized how difficult it would be since they wouldn’t have the support of the ranch and their partners to overcome temptation.  Jillian and Bob were discouraged to see that almost half of their team had to go home, both expressing frustration over their lack of control over the situation.

The first temptation offered up a limousine ride and $25,000, and Joelle wavers, managing not to give in.  Her hesitation makes everyone on the ranch question her dedication.  Bob was especially nervous for Joelle, wondering why she insisted on sabotaging herself.

Back at home, the contestants were doing their best to find ways to get into shape away from the ranch and the help of Jillian and Bob.  Some even hired their own personal trainers.

This week’s challenge was to pedal half a mile in a kayak to the shore, climb up a mountain, and capture a flag.  The winner of the challenge would win immunity, and the first four up would get a phone call home.  The last one in would get one-pound added to their weigh-in.  Tara was the first to the top, followed closely by Blaine.  Brandy and Helen came in third and fourth.  Even though Tara came in first, she gave her phone call home over to Filipe because she knew that he was longing to talk to his family.

Bob and Jillian pushed their teams during the last-chance workouts.  Joelle’s lack of effort frustrated Bob, and he finally blew up at her when she completely quit working out.  Jillian says that she’s never seen Bob as furious as he was then.  He makes this team do thirty-second sprints until Joelle finally completes one, and her team looks really upset with how her attitude is affecting them.

The teams have their weigh-in, and Jerry and Daniel fall below the yellow-line.  Everyone is upset because it’s obvious that both men need to be there and are dedicated to the program.  In the end, Jerry ended up going home.

NBC’s hit televisions show The Biggest Loser : Couples, Season 7 is literally the biggest yet, with 11 couples weighing in at over 3.5 tons.  Other new records are being broken on the show: heaviest contestant to ever be on the show, biggest woman, oldest couple,  youngest man, and sickest person.

Nicole and Damien are a married couple.

Laura and Tara are the Green team, who both cry as reality sets in at their first weigh in.

The contestants are excited to enter the gym and are asked to do the first workout of the show, without trainers of course.  As Jillian and Bob watch by hidden camera they express their shock in how big this season’s contestants are, but that this is also the reality of America today.  As the trainers enter the gym to meet and greet Jerry passes out.

After the first challenge the contestants see Dr. Huizenga to find out just how close to death they really are.  Following a last chance workout the contestants find out this episode there will not be any eliminations following weigh in.  The catch is that nine contestants will go home, leaving their counterparts on the show to fend for their team.  Whomever is not eliminated from the show in the following 30 days will have the opportunity to bring their teammate back.

Shannon, Sione, Laura, Aubrey, Nicole, David, Carla, Cathy, and Estella go home… and Jerry is still in the hospital.

Each of the contestants came out to reveal their new, slimmer bodies.  All of them were overjoyed with the results and were nervous to hear who would win the at-home challenge and who would be The Biggest Loser. The lead for the at-home competition kept changing hands, but Heba was finally named the winner, having lost 138 lbs total.

The final three contestants, Ed, Vicky, and Michelle, lined up for their weigh-in, which would determine who would be named The Biggest Loser.

Three Finalists

Ed lost 139 lbs, which was 41.49% of his total weight, and he kept the lead over Vicky, who needed to lose 102 lbs to beat him but only lost 101 lbs.  Finally, Michelle had to lose over 100 lbs in order to beat Ed.  Ali weighed her in, announcing that she had lost 110 lbs and the $250,000.

Dec 6, 2008

Michelle was having a hard time coping with the fact that her mom was gone. She felt all alone being the only Black team member left on the ranch. Meanwhile, Ed, Heba, and Vicky were celebrating and cheering about Renee’s elimination.

The four players reflect on where they came from and make a pact to never get heavy again.  Jillian worked hard with Michelle to make her see how much she had accomplished while Bob tried to make Vicky see that it was more than just a game.

Jillian pushed Michelle since she was the only Black Team member left.  She was safe, though, having lost 9 lbs.  Ed gained 2 lbs, and he and Heba fell below the yellow line.  Instead of being voted off by the other players, however, Ali announced that America would decide who would stay to compete to be The Biggest Loser.

Ali told the remaining five players to pack their bags because they were headed to New York City. They were even more surprised when she told them they would be getting makeovers and new wardrobes from Christian Siriano and showing off their new looks on the Tyra Banks show.

Tyra brought out one loved one for each contestant, and they got to spend the day with them in New York, working out with them.

At the weigh-in, Ed and Renee found themselves below the yellow line. After Heba and Vicky voted for Renee, she had to accept she wasn’t going to be The Biggest Loser. Renee was just thankful that the experience brought her and Michelle together again, and that alone made it all worth it.

Nov 19, 2008

Amy voted Brady off the ranch last week, making it harder for herself since Vicky was now out for revenge.  Amy turned to the Black Team for support.  Vicky decided to work out while everyone was sleeping in order to seek vengeance on Amy.

Ali showed up in ’80s fashion and announced to the group that it was ’80s week.  The contestants all wore work-out uniforms from that decade, and Jillian had the Black Team do ’80s dance moves while Bob tried to reunite his team.

Coleen had a big moment when she realized that she could fit into her “goal shirt”, and the rest of the Black Team celebrated the accomplishment with her.

Jillian pushed the Black Team to the breaking point in order to save them from falling below the yellow line.  Vicky and Coleen were put up for elimination, and Coleen ended up being sent home.

The Black Team announced Phil’s departure to the Blue Team. They were ridiculously disrespectful, though, especially Vicky. Even Bob was happy about Phil being gone, but he had great insight to Vicky’s manipulative nature. She was there to win! Jillian recognized that her girls on the Black Team were upset but pushed them to remain focused because now they are outnumbered.

Allison announced that they were going to single competition, but they all stayed in team-mentality. Allison then took them to the gym where she reintroduced all the eliminated contestants and weighed them in, announcing that one would be able to rejoin the competition at the challenge the next day.

Each returning contestant weighed in to show their progress, and Ali announced that one of them was going to get to come back.  Whoever took 1,000 steps first during the challenge would be able to come back to the ranch.  After awhile, it was a race between Ed and Stacey to the first 1,000 steps.  Ed eventually beat her by 13 steps.

With Ed back, it was five Blue Team members against three Black Team members.  Knowing that, Jillian pushed her team as hard as she could during the last-chance workout.  Both Brady and Michelle fell below the yellow line, and the Blue Team was confident in their win.  However, Amy shocked them all by voting to eliminate Brady, sending him home.
