Local reality star to appear on Oprah

Oct 30, 2008 (The Enterprise Ledger) – One local celebrity recently spent some time with the most powerful woman in America. Enterprise resident Roger Schultz, who lost 164 pounds as a contestant on the fifth season of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser”, joined several other cast members for a reunion show with Oprah Winfrey.

Filming the “Secrets to the Biggest Loser” episode, which airs Thursday Oct. 30 at 4 p.m., was a “first class” experience, according to Schultz. “Oprah and her staff took such good care of us,” said Schultz. “We were treated like we were Tom Cruise.”

Phil was having a hard time on the ranch after Amy gets eliminated. He had always looked at his wife as his sounding board for advice and he felt lost without her there. Meanwhile, Bob checked up on his Blue team and was heartbroken to see that Amy was gone (NBC’s The Biggest Loser Families recap).”

Heba maintains her drama queen status and goes from 253 to 247 at weigh-in.  Ami weighs in for a slightly heavier six pound loss, which Sami remarks is the biggest loss on campus to date.

Brady only lost three pounds at the last weigh-in, making Bob wonder what he and Vicky are up to.  Bob didn’t trust Vicky and thought she was the most manipulative, scheming member to ever enter the house.  They said that they hadn’t been doing anything wrong but finally revealed that Brady hadn’t been keeping to his eating regimen.

The Blue Team won the weigh-in, and the Black Team decided to send Phil home.  Michelle, Renee, and Coleen told him they thought he would do better back at home with his wife.  He lost 106lbs while on the show.  Leaving now he’d be home to celebrate a 20th wedding anniversary.

Sami welcomes special guest Dave Zinczenko, contributor to the Today Show, editor-in-chief of Men’s Health magazine, and author of a book entitled Eat This, Not That. The challenge is to pick which foods are lower in calories.

It’s time for the sixth week progress report… Contestants tried new and unusual workouts with the Black Team dominating over the Blue Team in the challenge, which was a serious balancing act. It was a bad scene for one of the Amy’s. And in a seemingly impossible turn, Vicky gets even worse.

“As soon as Amy saw the Black Team walk through the doors, she could tell they had just voted her mom off. She started to cry because now she felt like a little piece of her had left, too. Amy really didn’t want to face the Black team because of how they’d voted (NBC’s The Biggest Loser Families recap).”

A temptation challenge yielded great rewards for Heba who gets to compose the Black and Blue Teams going forward.

Contestants faced the longest challenge of the show working from dawn till dusk, and Jillian’s new Black Team climbed their way up the mountain and into the winner’s circle. Sadly, their efforts don’t lose them enough at weigh-in to stay in.

“The remaining contestants have the opportunity to meet Ali, who’s accompanied by tables of abundant, tempting baked goods; glazed donuts, frosted cupcakes, to bagels and brownies. Ali told them the temptation was about control and one of the players was going to get the power to change the game permanently. The winner of the temptation would decide who would get put on Bob’s Blue team and who would be on Jillian’s Black team (NBC’s The Biggest Loser Families recap).”

Care Package of Pain – Family teams faced the toughest challenge yet, hanging over a tank of ever decreasing water to win care packages from home. Jillian felt her team was performing without motivation and stepped up the demand forcing her team members to work harder.

“Jillian walked into the room and noticed she was now down to a team of all girls. She had asked the mothers and daughters to leave so she could get some one-on-one time with Coleen. Jillian wanted to make sure Coleen was ready to focus, and stop feeling guilty about Jerry being eliminated (watch The Biggest Loser Families recap here).”

Orange You Glad You Lost More Than Zero PoundsA Surprising weigh-in forces one team member to go home when the Orange Team drops below the yellow line, which leaves one Orange Team member, one Yellow Team member, and Pink, Brown, Red and purple pairs.  Jillian’s team comes to the conclusion that she’s probably right even when she’s screaming at them.

Bob came back to the gym and couldn’t believe the anger in Jillian’s face. Jillian gave Bob a recap of how she lost her temper and threw Amy out of the gym. Bob agreed that the contestants were going to have to realize they aren’t at the ranch to just have fun (NBC’s The Biggest Loser recaps).”

“The teams all found out they were taking a road trip to the Grand Canyon and had to return to their rooms to pack (The Biggest Loser Families video recaps online for more.” The contestants knew they would be in for temptations and some rigorous exercises once they arrived, and Ed and Heba learn that a luxury RV is sweeter than a Rolo.

The trainers gave double beatings to the teams when they return from their vacation, and a surprise twist forces Jerry and Coleen into a Sophie’s Choice moment.  Jerry being eliminated Jillian realized she was now down to a team of all girls. She had asked the mothers and daughters to leave so she could get some one-on-one time with Coleen. Jillian wanted to make sure Coleen was ready to focus, and stop feeling guilty about Jerry being eliminated.

In the season premiere ‘We’re a Fat Family’ eight family pairs began their journey to healthy living and feeling better.  Four husband and wife teams, and four parent and adult-child teams go head to head to shed as many pounds as they can in the next few weeks. Everyone weighs in and is told they are going to die. Sometimes the truth hurts.

Bob showed up to greet his husbands and wives and found them all wearing green bandanas in honor of Adam and Stacey. Bob had to remind his teams that every week, somebody goes home and it will be hard.”

This episode was about giving contestants the tools to eat a proper diet.  Chef Rocco DiSpirito worked with the contestants on shopping and preparing healthy, delicious, and affordable meals.  Family teams spent the episode shopping and cooking, dreading week two. The Yellow Team learned that it’s better to fold ‘em than to hold ‘em sometimes.
