Blame It On the Blaine

Feb 11, 2009

In light of falling below the yellow line for the second week in a row, Mike and Ron decide to sit down with Bob and figure out where they’re going wrong. Bob suspects it’s because they aren’t eating enough to work out to their full potential.

Ali leads the teams outside for a pop-challenge.  Whoever can stand on one foot for the longest get to reconnect with a loved one for twenty-four hours!  In the end, several players voluntarily eliminiated themselves so that Mandy could bring her husband to the ranch. This doesn’t make Jillian happy, though, since Mandy’s husband wasn’t very supportive in the past.  She doesn’t want Mandy to feel guilty or homesick.

This week’s actual challenge has the teams holding a bar above their heads for as long as possible.  Once one side of the bar drops too low, the team is eliminated.  After standing in the freezing weather for an hour, Ali told them that they could only hold the bar with one arm from then on.  At two hours, only the ladies are left and Ali lets them put both hands on the bar.  After four and a half hours in 38-degree weather, the Purple Team’s Kristin and Cathy finally won immunity!

Mandy got to see her husband, and he was shocked by her new appearance.  As a surprise, her children are there, too, and they have a big family reunion.  She takes them to a healthy breakfast, and then to the gym to show them her daily life.  Her husband recognizes how much determination she has shown and is proud of her progress.

During the last-chance work out, Bob really pushed the Brown Team, especially Mike, because he needed them to realize the importance of staying on the ranch for their health.  Jillian tries to beat weight out of her team since they don’t have the votes to save them if they fall below the yellow line.

At the weigh-in, Ali reminds everyone that only one team will fall below the yellow line, and the contestants will vote to send one player one.  The Black Team of Dane and Blaine fall below the yellow line.  Blaine begs the players to vote him off and keep Dane on the ranch since he thinks he has a better chance at home than Dane would . In the end, the teams respected his wishes and sent him home.
