We open up to Sione having a pity pat that Ron wanted him voted off verses Aubrey. This goes on and on for the first 15 minutes of the show. They then cut to everyone coming into the Gym and they see Ali Vincent the winner in Season 5. Why? Allison, the host had her baby.

 713-beach

Ali has a surprise for them. Just like in Season 5, former contestants come back to weigh in to see if they can get back on the show. 3 former contestants were brought back. They are Estelle, Nicole and David. The winner gets immunity from the weigh in as long as they don’t gain any weight and they can give a one pound penalty to whoever they want at weigh in. Everyone is just shocked at how much weight Nicole has lost. They get on the scale right then and there. Nicole wins. She has lost 87 pounds at home!!!  Bob, walks into the kitchen and wonders why everyone is so quiet. They say they have to show him something. Nicole walks out and Bob is stunned and overjoyed by Nicole and her weight loss. Tara is scared. Nicole coming back has the second highest % loss. Right after Tara.

While everyone is working out, Mike begins to have chest pains and is taken to the hospital. After many tests etc…they find he has a bleeding ulcer from his gastric bypass a few years ago. All is fixable and he comes back to the ranch.

The contestants then are taken to the pool where they meet Michelle the winner of Season 6. The challenge is all about balance. They stand on a platform over 40 lines of rope which are located 6 feet above the pool. Lines will be cut and the winner receives a pound advantage. Mike is the first to go in the water and at the end with 9 ropes left are Kristen and Sione. Kristen ends up in the water and Sione gets his one pound advantage.

 713-challenge

At weigh in they begin with Nicole. Everyone is stunned when she gains 5 pounds!!! Tara of course can’t help but smile because is then still in front of the pack. Below the yellow line is Ron and Nicole. They send Nicole home. She cries but hangs in there. At the end of the show they show her trying on wedding gowns. The first time she went in her size was 24 and now she fits into a size 12! She is hoping to be a size 8 by the time her wedding comes. Go NICOLE!!! She is an inspiration to everyone that you can lose weight at home and not just on the Biggest Loser Campus.

The show begins with the black team in shock that Kathy went home and not Aubrey. Many hugs to Kristin showing her support and saying they are sorry that her Mom went home. So, all the remaining contestants come in to the gym where Allison has the original team colors. The blue and black teams are no more. They each go back to the color they started with. A great moment was when Mike who has lost 118 pounds received a smaller shirt and we were all showed what size he started in. Two people could fit in his shirt. He was very happy to see how much he has lost. Then, they had to decide what trainer they wanted to train with AND they had to do it in front on Bob and Jillian.

712-1

The challenge is in 2 parts. The first part is all of the contestants are put in front of blocks of cement that equal the amount of weight they have lost. They can distribute the weight to other members. Kathy and Tara are the main targets with Tara receiving 257 pounds and Kathy receiving 215 pounds. They all want to know how this plays in the second part of the challenge. Allison will not say. Next, they are at the race track and they are cars with each team color and weighing 2 tons each. In addition to the 2 tons, is the weight each contestant ended up with from the 1st part of the challenge. NASCAR Driver Clint Bowyer drives up. The winner of the challenge receives immunity at weigh in and gets to go the NASCAR event on October 11th.   They have to pull the car ½ mile. Mike and Felipe are out front, but Tara who has an extra 257 pounds pulls ahead, and wins the challenge!

Weigh In…Tara and Kristen are just a few pounds away from losing 100 pounds as the first  women ever on the show. Tara gets up first. She has to lose 4 pounds to make her 100 pound loss. She only loses 3 pounds. She is very disappointed and then Kristen gets up on the scale. She loses 8 pounds and is congratulated being the first women ever on TBL  to lose 100 pounds. She gave such an eloquent speech. Everyone was in tears. In the end below the yellow line are Mike and Aubrey. The members send Aubrey home.

The contestants got to go home this week. They find out they would be running a half marathon for their challenge. They were also given cookies. For every cookie they wanted to eat, they could add 5 minutes to another contestants finish time. Of course Tara and Sione finished in the top spots. Did anyone eat the penalty cookies and risk gaining weight. You bet. Helen ate one cookie and the result was Tara losing the challenge and $10,000. Tara’s attitude was great about the loss. She’s such a competitor!

While at home, the contestants had to be diligent in working out and eating right. Helen went shopping and felt proud when she didn’t give into temptations of the pasties at the grocery store. Mikey and Ron had to turn down pizza and cookies (that were on the house) from on of their favorite restaurants. Mikey had a salad. Sione was challenged and said he actually had to ‘think’ about what to order off the menu, which turned out to be salmon, no sauce, and a double order of vegetables they only served white rice.

It was all tears when it was time to return to the ranch for a “Last Chance” workout before the weigh-in. Blue team got beat again. Cathy offered herself up on a platter and her team obliged. As much as I like Ron, its time for him to go home. Though he had a good weigh-in, what’s up with only running 4 miles!!!

The teams were surprised big time in week 10. Allison brought the teams into the courtyard with a challenge. Winner of the challenge got to pit a member of the blue team against a member of the black team in the various challenges to come with them facing off each other at weigh in. The challenge was to squat against the wall with a ball in your lap. Team members started dropping off immediately. The final two were Mandi and Tara. Tara won the challenge by 2 seconds and had to decide who from each team would compete against each other.

Episode 710

The second challenge was an obstacle course at 24 Hour Fitness. The prize for the winning team was a 24 hour luxury spa event. At the end of the challenge the black team won. Again. The Blue team is not happy about losing again, but are confident they will win at weigh in.

The black team had a great time at the spa. In fact they binged on food, drink and smoking. They consumed at dinner over 16,000 calories. Meanwhile at the ranch the blue team is working out hard and treat themselves to a nice dinner. Total calories consumed by all the team members…1,612 calories.

After the black team gets back and Jillian meets them in the dining room, she is fit to be tied. She already knows what happened and is waiting to see of her team will confess. At first they don’t and with her yelling at them, they break down and confess. Filipe is not pleased about her attitude towards the team members and blows up at her accusing her of not working out with him but with everyone else etc. and leaves the room with his cousin following him out. But, more drama of course comes. The cousins walk into the gym and let Bob know what happened and that they want to work out with him and not Jillian. So both defect to Bob for workout as Jillian comes in with the rest of the black team. She ignores them.

Both teams come in for weigh in. As one blue and one black team member get on the scale, the winner of the weigh in gets 1 point for their team. Tara weighs in first since she picked the team rivarly and kept herself out so her weigh in will not count. Shock. She has consistently pulled in big numbers. She did not lose one pound. In fact she was at “0”. She had tears in her eyes getting off the scale. The rest of the teams weigh in against each other with both teams evenly at 2pts each. Then Mandi and Sione weigh in. He loses 6 pounds and Mandi gained 2 pounds! Bob and the blue team are devestated. She worked out the hardest and yet still gained. Therefore, the black team wins and is saved from elimination. The blue team will have to decide who will go home with one more insult to injury. Laura of the black team won last week to have an extra vote to who gets eliminated.

The blue team meets and it comes down to Mandi going home in week 10. Next week, the remaining team members get to go home for a visit!

Feb 25, 2009

The players started off with a pop challenge this week, and Ali announced that two-person teams were coming to an end.  Instead, everyone would join the blue or black team, and no one was guaranteed to stay with their original trainer.  The challenge winner would be able to stay with their trainer and partner, but everyone else would be decided by a coin toss.  The players had to do up-downs in the mud, touching a disc above their head every time they stood.  The first one to do that 100 times would be the winner, and the one who came in last would automatically be separated from their partner.  Each team picked one person to represent them.  Tara gets to 100 first, guaranteeing that she and Laura will stay together.  Helen comes in last and has to switch trainers from Bob to Jillian.

Tara and Laura get to stay with Jillian on the Black Team.  Mostly everyone ended up switching trainers, and the Brown Team was split up.  Mike went with Jillian while Ron stayed with Bob.  Bob’s Blue team consisted of Kristin, Cathy, Ron, Dane, Aubrey and Mandi. Jillian’s Black team had Helen, Sione, Filipe, Mike, Laura and Tara.  The players were distressed over leaving their trainers, but Jillian sees it as an opportunity for the players to experience different approaches and strategies for health.  Bob had a harder time with the change, though, and teared up when he ran into his old team members.

After the trainers get to know their new teams, it’s challenge time.  This week the players would be clocking in miles on a stationery bike.  The team with the most miles after 24 hours wins a 3-pound advantage at the next weigh-in and a stationery bike for each team member.  The Blue Team biked 264 miles but lost to the Black Team, who clocked in 301.9 miles.  Tara rode the furthest with 58.8 miles!

Be sure to tune into part two tomorrow night for the weigh-in and listen to Bob give an important lesson on why The Biggest Loser Protein by Designer Whey is an important part of The Biggest Loser health and weight-loss plan!

Feb 18, 2009

This week’s episode started off with another pop-challenge.  Ali announced that the gym had been locked and would remain so the entire week.  If the players wanted to open it, they had to hike to the top of a hill to pick up a key.  However, only 2 keys out of 130 would open it up.  Choose the wrong one and up they go again!  The players all took to the challenge, but some had a harder time than others.  Ron struggled with his bad knees, but the other contestants helped him, and Helen even stayed with him to make sure he didn’t hurt himself.  Karma rewarded her when Shanon was the first one to unlock the door after forty minutes.  After an hour, Mike finds the second lucky key!

Jillian was really happy to find that Dane was still with the team.  However, Bob was upset that his team kept such a threat in the house.  His mood was turned when he found out that both keys belonged to members of his team.  Jillian, not being a fan of the outdoors, decided to turn the living room into a home gym and had them doing 80’s style aerobics.  Tara was having an off week and had a slight breakdown after Jillian refused to grant her a break.  Jillian told her that, no matter how stressed or worried she is, she can’t sabotage the one thing keeping her on the ranch – her workouts.

The teams all enjoy their time outside by turning on the sprinklers and wrestling in the mud.  They use the activity to have fun and destress while still burning calories.

At this week’s challenge, the contestants have to row fast enough to keep their light green.  If they slow down, it will go to yellow, which is a warning.  And if it turns to red, they are eliminated.  It’s a team challenge this week, as well, so if one person goes red, the both of them are out.  Dane, Laura, and Tara are the last ones in, but Dane wins his first challenge in the end.  Laura bursts into town, feeling like she let her partner down.

As a last chance work out, Bob takes everyone down the beach.  Because of Ron’s knees, however, he works out in the pool.  He feels guilty for not being able to work as hard as Bob would normally push someone to, but Bob realizes how hard he is working and finds him inspirational.  Jillian had her team doing aerobics, boxing, and running for their last chance workout, pushing them to their limits.

At the weigh-in, the pink team fell below the yellow line. Shanon asked the members to please keep her mother on the ranch, and they respected her wishes, keeping Helen on for another week.

Feb 11, 2009

In light of falling below the yellow line for the second week in a row, Mike and Ron decide to sit down with Bob and figure out where they’re going wrong. Bob suspects it’s because they aren’t eating enough to work out to their full potential.

Ali leads the teams outside for a pop-challenge.  Whoever can stand on one foot for the longest get to reconnect with a loved one for twenty-four hours!  In the end, several players voluntarily eliminiated themselves so that Mandy could bring her husband to the ranch. This doesn’t make Jillian happy, though, since Mandy’s husband wasn’t very supportive in the past.  She doesn’t want Mandy to feel guilty or homesick.

This week’s actual challenge has the teams holding a bar above their heads for as long as possible.  Once one side of the bar drops too low, the team is eliminated.  After standing in the freezing weather for an hour, Ali told them that they could only hold the bar with one arm from then on.  At two hours, only the ladies are left and Ali lets them put both hands on the bar.  After four and a half hours in 38-degree weather, the Purple Team’s Kristin and Cathy finally won immunity!

Mandy got to see her husband, and he was shocked by her new appearance.  As a surprise, her children are there, too, and they have a big family reunion.  She takes them to a healthy breakfast, and then to the gym to show them her daily life.  Her husband recognizes how much determination she has shown and is proud of her progress.

During the last-chance work out, Bob really pushed the Brown Team, especially Mike, because he needed them to realize the importance of staying on the ranch for their health.  Jillian tries to beat weight out of her team since they don’t have the votes to save them if they fall below the yellow line.

At the weigh-in, Ali reminds everyone that only one team will fall below the yellow line, and the contestants will vote to send one player one.  The Black Team of Dane and Blaine fall below the yellow line.  Blaine begs the players to vote him off and keep Dane on the ranch since he thinks he has a better chance at home than Dane would . In the end, the teams respected his wishes and sent him home.

It’s week five, and the contestants who had to compete from home are now back on the ranch.  As the players welcome back Aubrey, Laura, Sione, Shannon, Cathy, and Carla, Bob sits his team down to warn them of how much more competitive the ranch will be now that everyone is back.  Meanwhile, Jillian was sad but unsurprised to find Dan and Dave gone.

The at-home contestants get weighed in, the event everyone was waiting for.  Some contestants did fairly well with Shannon losing fifteen pounds, but others, such as Aubrey, who only lost two pounds, have their work on the ranch cut out for them.  Jillian and Bob recognize that it isn’t realistic to expect the at-home contestants to have lost as much weight as those on the ranch, but they aren’t taking any excuses for low weight losses.  In the end, Sione wins immunity for himself and Filipe with a loss of twenty-five pounds.

The challenge this week had players for either a two-pound pass or $5000 cash.  The players are tied together with a rope that is wound around a big pipe.  In order to win the challenge, they need to unwind themselves enough to make it to the finish line.  This challenge emphasized team work.  While Joelle is intrigued by the money, Carla tells her that they will be playing for the pass.  In the end, Aubrey and Mandi of the yellow team win the challenge and have to decide on their prize.

It comes down to the last chance work out, the first time that the at-home players have worked with Jillian and Bob in thirty days.  Jillian pushes her team, reminding them that they are gone as soon as they fall below the yellow line due to having only three teams to Bob’s five.  On Bob’s side, Joelle is still slacking off, and Carla has to work extra hard to make up for her lack of dedication.

At the weigh-in, the yellow team decides to take the two-pound pass.  Joelle says that she might have low numbers, but it doesn’t matter because Carla has been working hard, and she still has the other members on her team to save her.  When it’s revealed that she lost no weight this week, she falls below the yellow line.  The Silver team, of Joelle and Carla, and the Brown Team, of Mike and Ron, go up for elimination.

Carla and Aubrey get upset with Joelle for being selfish and not dedicating herself to her team.  Meanwhile, Mike reminds the contestants that he and his father are committed and have been working hard since the beginning while Joelle has failed to show any progress.  Carla and Joelle ended up getting voted off, and everyone let Carla know that it wasn’t because of her and let her know that she could definitely still win in the finale.

Jan 28, 2009

After last week’s surprising elimination, some of the contestants voiced complaints over the final outcome.  Filipe in particular was angry, but Jillian’s team pointed out that, with Damien gone, Bob’s team was now considerably weaker than theirs.

We checked in with the contestants who are at home and saw that some were working hard and some haven’t changed their lifestyles at all.  Sione has converted his tv watching time to working out in the gym, and Tara is trying to balance taking care of her children with getting in some exercise, as well.  But Dave is still smoking and eating large quantities of food with little exercise.

Blaine gets to go home this week because his wife is in labor with their fourth child.  He’ll be gone for the challenges and workouts, but he’ll be back at the end of the week for the weigh-in.

The contestants then go out to a tailgating party since it’s Super Bowl week.  Celebrity chef Curtis Stone is there to teach them about how unhealthy the snacks people eat while watching football are.  He has them guess the amount of calories in different foods, and the top three players will win an opportunity for him to show them how to prepare healthier alternatives.  And the top winner will visit their partner’s home to have a one-on-one healthy cooking lesson with them.  They’ll also get a two pound pass for the next weigh-in.

Helen, Kristin, and Dan were the lucky winners who learned how to prepare healthy football snacks.  And Dan was the overall winner, so Curtis headed out to North Carolina to cook with Dave.

Dave was really surprised to see Curtis Stone show up at his house, and he confessed that he hadn’t been eating healthy since being back at home.  Curtis showed him some easy meals to make that would be filling, delicious, and healthy.  Dave was really surprised at how tasty the meal they made together was.

This week’s challenge revolved around the NFL with two-time MVP Kurt Warner, the quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, participating.  This week’s prize was immunity and a guarantee of being able to bring their partner back to the ranch.  To win, the players have to sprint down the field, picking up footballs, and putting them in other players’ bins.  Whenever a player has five balls in their bin, they are out.  The last person standing wins.  It came down to Helen and Joelle, but Helen beat her out and was happy that Shannon would be coming back to the ranch.

This week’s weigh-in waas the most important so far because it determined whose partner would be coming back to the ranch and who would be going home.  Surprisingly, their partners showed up before the weigh-in for a brief reunion.  In the end, father and son, Mike and Ron, fell below the yellow line with Dan.  Tara grew frustrated when Dave admitted he didn’t want to be on the ranch after Dan had worked so hard to get him there.  The votes were tied, and it all came down to Filipe.  He voted to send Dan and Dave home and give the brown team at least one more week.

This season’s players are using The Biggest Loser Protein as part of a healthy diet.  Look for it in season seven episodes!

Jan 21, 2009

Emotions were heightened after the season’s first elimination.  Everyone was very upset about having to get rid of Jerry, but Dan expressed immense gratitude at being allowed to stay on the ranch.  It’s clear that everyone would have rather voted off Joelle since she didn’t really want to be there anyway.

Checking in at home, we see that not everyone is able to resist the temptation of eating whatever they want without trainers Jillian and Bob around.  This makes the week’s temptation round even more difficult.  Ali brings the contestants to a room filled with treats that have their calorie content posted right next to them.  Each player gets five minutes in the room to eat as much as they want.  The team that eats the most calories gets to have a personal training session at home.  But no player gets to know how many calories their partner consumed since they had to do this challenge from home.

In the end, we find out that Carla consumed a total of 2,710 calories in order to get Joelle home with Bob in tote.  Joelle, who had eaten nothing, was really excited to be able to go home yet still resist temptation.  Her gloating, however, upset the rest of the team who felt that she didn’t deserve it.

While in Detroit, Carla and Bob confront Joelle about her lack of motivation.  Carla tells Joelle to remember that she has a team member and asks her how she’d feel if she knew that Carla weren’t holding up her end. They end up getting into a fight over the issue, however, with Carla telling Joelle that she needs to work twice as hard at the ranch.  Joelle finally slams down her dumbbell and tells Carla to stop doing Bob’s job.  The two go on fighting until a very annoyed Bob has to intervene.

Back at the ranch, Mandi is having a difficult time being away from her family and children.  Jillian takes her aside and talks about how “emotionally heavy” she is and asks her to look at her time on the ranch as a learning experience that will benefit her and her family in the end.

This week’s challenge had the players jumping over swinging beams.  Whoever jumped for the longest amount of time wins immunity at the weigh-in.  After two hours, it comes to Kristin and Tara.  Kristin misses a step, though, giving the win to Tara.

At the weigh-in, both Damien and Joelle fall below the yellow line, and you can tell that Joelle is afraid of retribution from Carla if she gets voted off.  When Tara asks Joelle is she really wants to be there, she hesitates  Even though Bob’s entire team wants Joelle gone, Damien ends up being the one to go, shocking everyone.
