Hello Friends! Happy Memorial Day.

As we remember our heroes who set us free in the great ol’ USA maybe in our thoughts we could remember how we were as kids. As I watch my kids I envy their energy and resilience. One thing I noticed is how much they move, playing running, tossing a ball, swimming, riding bike…always on the move.

For those of us who have a few pounds or two or a hundred we need to remember to have fun and play, toss a ball, go swimming, ride our bikes on a daily bases. Feed our self like we feed our kids, the portions, the better choices, and the balance. I have to say, I feed my kids better then myself. I want to avoid the pain and suffering I went through as a kid being the fat kid, last to be picked on the team, no energy to go out and play with my friends, life that I lived through as a kid. So get moving like a kid, have fun!

I am going to resist today. I will eat healthy and use my Designer Whey products to get through the holiday healthy. Going to put some burgers on the grill and play WITH my kids instead of watching them play.

Have a healthy day and drink your Whey even on holidays.

Hello Friends,

Camille from Michigan here. I hope this finds you well. Last weekend was a blast. My husband is an amazing guitarist and played in a weekend gig. We had a great time of fun and music. I have to admit I have been slacking off my plan and I tell ya…I don’t feel as well. I need to get my butt in gear and get back on plan and get moving more. I have blogged about how much better I feel when I routinely do daily activities but why don’t I do it? I think its not being accountable to anyone. So I need to campaign for more accountability friends to keep myself on track.

I only lost ½ pound last weigh in…bummer, but my fault for not staying on plan. I often ask why do I sabotage myself??? Work so hard to only fail? NO WAY! I am not going to fail. With friends, activities and my Designer Whey, I will not fail.

I read an interesting article about 9 foods you should NOT to feed your kids or yourself.

1. Chicken Nuggets- Yes our favorite fast food quickie we all give our kids. Know what you are really feeding your kids! They consist of compressed fat, tons of sodium, high fructose corn syrup and chicken parts that are bleached to look like ‘white’ meat. A 5 piece chicken nuggets at our favorite arch fast food restaurant has 630 calories and 33 grams of fat! Not including the sugar soaked fries and soda, plus a sundae…your kids can have about 1000 calories just at that one meal.

2. Sugary Cereal- Remember ‘wheat’ and ‘whole wheat’ are if different worlds. You want whole wheat or whole grains. All sugary cereals have hydrogenated oils, artificial colors or chemical preservatives, including some granolas. READ the labels. Sugary cereals lead to A.D.D. like behaviors then drop your kids to a low like a depression mood… Feed your kids a good breakfast…you will help their life!

3. Lunchmeat and Hotdogs- Whaaaaa I love this stuff and kids love it too but it’s not good for them or you! They’re full of nitrates and carcinogenics! Kids who eat 12 hot dogs a month are at risk nine times more for leukemia! They can have 38 grams of fat causing obesity in our kids.

4. Juice and juice-flavored drinks- huh juice? Well, other then vitamin c juice contains no healthy fiber that kids need! Juice flavored drinks are full of sugar and artificially flavors. Kids should only have about 6 ounces of 100% juice a day unless you make it yourself from a juicer then up to 12 ounces is good. I know my kids drink way more then that.

5. French Fries- High in calories, high in fat, high sodium, low nutrition. To top it off when you heat starchy foods at high temperatures a chemical reaction called acrylamide which is a toxic substance that has cancer causing properties!

6. Chips, cheetos, doritoes…geez can’t have any good stuff! But look what is in it… more sodium then an adult should have in one day, saturated fats, the low fat chips contain olestra (bad for you).           Instead make air popcorn, cut up veggies or fruit. That way you can control what you put on it. Try parmesan cheese on popcorn.

7. Fruit leather (roll-ups)- full of sugar and artificial ingredients. Beware of the word fruit on a box! Fruit should be bought in the produce department not the candy isle

8. Doughnuts- whaaaaaaa I love doughnuts and so do my kids but they are full of sugar and fat and trans fats too. Same with pop tarts, muffins and cinnamon buns, BAD! BAD! BAD! for you and your kids.

9. Commercial pizza- make your own- commercial pizza is full of preservatives, fat, sodium, and tons of cancer causing nitrates! Make pizza on English muffins and let the kids make their own! It’s fun and much better for your kids. You can make your own whole wheat crust too. Use chicken instead of fat and greasy pepperoni

Well, I need a butt kickin! Got to get back on plan and do my daily activities!

Have a great healthy day and drink your Whey!

Hump Day! I usually do pretty well Sunday-Friday, weekends are hard for me, and by mid-week I am still going strong. Weekends are hard for me; I don’t feel like cooking or eating healthy. I wanna eat what I wanna eat and that has given me a dunlap. What’s a dunlap you ask? That is where your gut done lap your…well you can guess what ‘your’ is. This is where my Designer Whey products come handy. The kids can fix themselves a sandwich and I can whip up a healthy meal. I really enjoy all the flavors that Designer Whey makes.

I hope as the holiday comes in 12 days, I can be strong and resist. I have not been on plan as I should. I am holding my weight and not gaining, which is good. I am getting more activity and that is good. Discipline has not been my strongest access in life and that has brought on trouble but I like to think that also brought me strength to make it through anything.

Hope this finds you well.

Have a healthy day and drink your Designer Whey!

Hello Friends,

Let’s talk about fiber. I have been learning a lot of things I never knew while on my journey to a healthier me. I would like to share with you what I have learned about fiber.

Alright, we all know fiber makes you poop but did you know that fiber is also important for digestion, keeping your blood sugar at a more even level, nourishes your colon which produces acids that provides fuel for your liver and plays an important role in metabolism?

There are 2 main types of fiber, insoluble fiber is made up of plant cell walls and it can not be dissolved in water. It has a good laxative affect. Then there is soluble fiber which is called polysaccharides (carbohydrates that contain 3 or more molecules of simple carbohydrates) it has an effect of lowering cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

Some Facts About Fiber

  • Fiber keeps stool soft and keeps the contents of the intestines moving
  • A good diet consist of 25-30 grams of fiber a day (Americans eat half of that)
  • Bran has the highest fiber content
  • Fiber binds with fats of which contain calories then carries them through the colon and keeps them from being absorbed
  • Only plants produce fiber.
  • A good weight loss plan should have about 45 grams of fiber daily
  • Each gram of fiber can flush 7 calories (do the math!)

Designer Whey Weight Control has 5 grams of fiber….hmmm 7 X 5 = 35… I love the French vanilla in my morning coffee. I am a late morning eater and Designer Whey gets my body moving and energy flying before I even take a bite of food.

I may not know what all of that means but my thinking is if I am getting enough fiber which absorbs fats allowing it to pass on though not absorbing and planting itself on my fat butt, keeps my blood sugar even so I do not have that sugar high then crash to crave a candy bar…its has to be a good thing for weight loss and my health!

Have a healthy day, get enough fiber and drink your whey!

First of all I want to thank Designer Whey for creating one of the best protein supplements I have ever used. I am married, 40, and a stay at home mom of 3 wonderful girls. I have been over weight most my life. I have been trying to lose weight and keep it off for 32 years. May 31, 2008 I step on the scale and cried. The scale read 299!  I was crushed. I never thought I would be pushing the scale to 300 pounds but the scale does not lie.

After a few days of being down and my family wondering what was wrong with their fun, loving mom and wife…I decided I needed to take control. June 10th I started to create an eating plan that worked for me. I have lost thousands of pounds in those 32 years and knew how to lose weight but I needed to create an eating plan that I could stick with and that I could incorporate into my family as well. I also had to make it affordable. I, like most of us believe the more you pay the better a product was. Not true.

10 pounds lighter, July 10th, 2008 I joined a weight loss challenge group in my area. I was kind of upset that it was really to sell another weight loss protein supplement full of herbs and life changing proteins and expensive too! I have learned many new things in the challenge so I decided to read the labels of these special herbs and life protein and was thinking this product is full of artificial flavors, modified starches, fructose and sugar. I am not purchasing something like this even if it works and $32.00 a can. I have a condition called lymphedema which means my lymph nodes in my lower extremities do not work properly. I avoid non natural ingredients as much as possible. If I can not pronounce more then half of the ingredients in a product or know what it is, I do not use that product.

Taking my new found knowledge that I should be consuming 100-124 grams of protein daily to lose weight and knowing I was not even near that amount, I started looking for other options. I have seen Designer Whey before but passed it up because I felt it was too cheap… but researching on line I came across an article about how good Designer Whey was.  I looked up where I could purchase the product and was happy to find it at my local grocery store. I read the ingredients and was happy to read and understand the contents. I paid $9.99 for each can of 100 calorie vanilla and chocolate flavored powder. I was a happy camper.

As of August 10, 2008 I have lost 20 pounds and many inches. I contribute that to adding Designer Whey products to my eating plan, determination and hard work. I also have noticed my stamina and energy levels have sky rocketed…no naps for this mama!

So far I have used the chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, natural, weight control and the mango 2GO packets. I have enjoyed all of them. Not only have I enjoyed them my family does too! My 9 and 8 year old love ‘chocolate milk shakes’ that I make for them with the Designer Whey chocolate flavored. They say it’s the best shake that ever had. I also noticed that their hyper tendencies have calmed down tremendously after they have a “shake” My 16 year old makes strawberry shakes for herself and I noticed she is not asking for ice cream all the time like she normally did. She also is losing some weight! I made my husband a “shake” with the vanilla power and some honey and he asked my why did I buy ice cream when I am trying to lose weight? HAHA on him it was a Designer Whey Shake! He too has lost a few pounds. Recently we went to an amusement park and we all know how yummy the high fat, high sugar, high calorie foods that are found in amusement parks. I refused to eat any of it. I brought my strawberry powder and some 2GO packets and was satisfied ALL 14 hours we were there.

Changes since I started using Designer Whey products.

Weekends are hard for those of us trying to lose a few pounds or 100 pounds. Who wants to cook on the weekend? It’s much easier to stop at a fast food place or grab a pizza, then to cook a healthy meal. Well I say let the family eat there I will be happy with my Designer Whey products instead of succumbing to the junk!

Friday I was kind of down. I weighed in Thursday night and I lost 2 pounds last week which is great in the picture. But I could have sworn I lost more then that. I felt it, I felt more energy, and my clothes were less tight. So I fell into bad habits and greedily downed a bunch of sugar coated nuts. Then the guilt after was hard to handle. I thought to myself WHAT ARE YOU DOING? You lost 2 pounds, hold up 2 pounds of butter…it’s gone from you. Are you nuts (lol) to give that up? So now I will make me a Designer Whey Chocolate Peanut Caramel meal instead when I have that urge to splurge. It’s a much better choice and will calm your nerves down when you have had a hard day.

So far since June 10th 22 pounds!

My youngest wants to play tennis. I know the basics, though I suck at tennis. I take my daughter to a park near us to practice. The chick is pretty good at almost 9…hmmm maybe a tennis star on my hands? It is fun to play with my kids and with the 22 pounds off it makes it a lot easier. Lose weight; feel great, playing with your kids is priceless. Like the song says, “You’re gunna miss this” I don’t want to miss playing with my girls. I have to keep going on my quest to be healthy.

Have a healthy day and drink your whey!

I hope you all are having a healthy day. Thursdays are a nerve for me, its ‘weight in day’. I weigh in at a group I belong to and the anxiety and cariousness is nerve racking. I don’t weigh in until 6PM. I don’t weigh myself at home either because that, too, can drive one batty. It’s more fun when you step on the scale and see that number drop.

I tried the Designer Whey Weight Control French Vanilla flavor today… Great in my coffee! I am not sure what was different but I had enormous amounts of energy today. It felt really good. Before I started adding Designer Whey to my eating plan I took a nap every day. I also got some of the chocolate peanut caramel flavored Designer Whey. I tried it last night for my last snack of the day. I did not get the night craving to chow down so I was happy about that. My kids loved it too!

If you have kids, instead of cookies for an after school snack, make them a Designer Whey shake. They will not get that afternoon sugar rush and drive you nuts.

Get Moving People! I tell you. The more I move the more I want to move. I bike with a friend 3 days a week. Boy, can I tell when we miss a ride. I also walk 3 days a week with another friend. When I first started we went real slowly and I was sweating bullets! Now 2 months later I can keep on going. I have a shake before I go on our walks or ride and I can tell the difference from when I do not have my protein. It really makes a difference.
