So yes, we hit the gym a few times a week, and we feel good. We’re eating healthy also, and that makes us proud of ourselves. The question on the mind is: can I do more to make this new healthy lifestyle more healthy? The answer is ABSOLUTELY! I like the workout outside the workout. The things that you can do during your daily routine that will allow you to add just a bit more to your day, without the worries of changing into your gym clothes and ending up with a cold shower. Things like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking further from your office and walking the distance, riding your bike to work instead of driving (my uncle rides his bike about 20 miles each way, every day) or walking to work. For those of us lucky enough to live in Southern California, we are especially blessed that Spring is officially here and it’s a balmy 70+ degrees everyday. So walk that extra bit from your car and enjoy a little sun and some fresh air! If you only live a mile or so from work, that’s really only a 20-minute walk and you’ll feel better about yourself, not to mention the money you’ll save on gas. Work on the 2nd floor but have a meeting on the 10th? Take the stairs. Your co-workers might look at you funny, but you’ll have the last laugh come this summer when you’re in great shape for the beach or pool and they’re looking for extra-big towels to cover up with. Have a pet? Race them when you take them for a walk. They might be fast, but if you keep at it you’ll be able to challenge them soon enough. And that’s great for them too. Have a pool at your apartment or house, and want to cool off? Great, swim down and back a few times too. Swimming is one of the greatest workouts there is, because it works just about everything. Swim until you can’t anymore, then swim some more. Stuck in the office at your cubicle all day, typing emails and reports and memos? Well, strap on a couple of 1-pound weights to your ankles, underneath your pants, and do leg lifts while at your desk. That might not add huge, bulking muscle but it will tone very well, and it’s still burning calories. Remember that the most important think you can do is to just do something. Every little thing you do is a few more calories burnt. My friend once told me that you burn 80 calories an hour just sleeping, so imagine what you can do if you put your mind to it. The workout outside your workout is exactly what we all need. Until next time, keep at it! YOU CAN DO IT!

Hello Friends,

This week went by so fast! I was so busy that I did not get to watch my favorite show until Sunday. Oh the “Biggest Loser” show of course left us hanging to see the winners. Good thing I don’t have too many days to wait! Did you see the segment where Sugar Ray was on? I did and he said a cool quip. He said POWER means Prepare-Overcome-Win-Every-Round. How cool is that! Also Designer Whey had a nice promo too. I can’t help be get excited for Designer Whey when I see their promo…you guys rock! I tell all my friends about Designer Whey Products and how they have helped me on my journey to healthier me.

I picked up a “Biggest Loser” Weight management kit from Sam’s Club today. I heard that 55% of the Biggest Losers diet is protein. See, if you listen carefully you will get the tips and secrets to the contestant’s weight loss. Some contestants lost almost 90 pounds in 9 weeks! I sure wish I could be a contestant and have someone push me, train me, feed me and teach me like the contestants receive. I wish for a personal trainer and equipment but with our budget being so tight… for now I will have to rely on myself. I wish our dog was good on the leash I would love to go for walks with her but she is a stinker and jerks me and pulls I have not been able to break her of that.

Today I got really irked… I don’t even know if irked is a word but I will say irked to be nice… I shop at a discount grocery store to help save money and the person in line ahead of me had his groceries and 2 bottles of Bailey’s Cream…ok so far not so bad…but then he pulls out his bridge (food stamp) card and pays for his groceries then a 20 dollar bill to pay for the booze…I am like steaming… the man can’t pay for his groceries but has the money for booze….ugh!

Well friends its Monday and I always like Monday, it’s the beginning of a new week for new hopes.

Have a good one,

Camille

Well Friends, yesterday was my 41st birthday. My husband and girls gave me a wonderful and fun birthday. Purple is my favorite color so of course my girls get purple balloons and steamers. My husband is quite the character, he buys me purple duct tape, pretty funny! He also bought me a very nice simple silver necklace which is perfect for me as I am a pretty simple person. I love popcorn so my daughters bought me a popcorn recipe book, very cool. Popcorn is a perfect snack, high fiber, low calories. On the humorous side, I watch Oprah so my girls bought me Oprah Magazine. We have a tradition of all kids get a small gift on each others birthday. If you have young kids it works like a charm when the girls see their sister getting a bunch a gifts they are not so hurt because they receive a gift too.

Did you watch The Biggest Loser this week? I think Joelle deserved to go home but I felt bad for Carla. When you want something so bad and another gets in the way it is frustrating.

I have been trying to speed up my walk and I guess you would call it a light jog. I can go 3 houses then have to slow back to a walk but for me even jogging two feet is a challenge. I see the contestants on The Biggest Loser and they are even heavier than I am and they can jog so I have been doing a little at a time. I started by doing a light jog on my rebounder then progressed to when I walked. It’s easier for me on the rebounder then on cement. Now I know I can do it and that feels pretty good.

Have a great week end. Stick to your healthy plans, and look for The Biggest Loser Protein in your local grocery store. It tastes great and will help you lose weight and feel great with a proper diet and exercise!

I started walking with a friend at the mall and I am looking to get a treadmill, hopefully find a good used one for an affordable price. You know the Biggest Losers” walk 14 miles a day! That comes out to be about 3 hours a day…I think WOW 3 hours a day, I can’t even seem to squeeze in 20 minutes!

I have been thinking about the second question that I am suppose to be answering from the “Best Life” Series sponsored by Oprah last week. The question is… Why are you worthy of getting healthy this year? My first reaction is to say…I am a child of God therefore worthy of being healthy so that I can glorify Him. That is a great answer; it is a politically, morally correct thing to say and sounds wonderful but is it reality? Partly YES, but I need to dig deeper and discover that truth for myself. I also think of longevity and quality of life as I get older. I used to work in nursing homes and have horrible thoughts of having to get 3 people to help me get out of bed because of my weight. I know crazy but those thoughts cross my mind all the time. I think my kids deserve a healthy mom. I think about my darling husband and how he deserves to be proud to have a healthy wife by his side. You may not know this about me and by me sharing this it could cause a credibility issue with people I help. I council crack cocaine addicts and have been for over 10 years now. I think about how I am able to help one stop their addiction to crack yet can not stop my own addiction to food.

I need to figure out why food has this power over me and over come it. I need to find the desire to exercise. I want the results but do not have the desire to do the work. I love watching the “Biggest Loser” and some of the people are 100 pounds heavier then me and they are able to walk the 14 miles a day, work out, sweat, huff and puff, eat right, and drink their Biggest Loser Protein shakes, follow an eating plan. Though, I suppose if I had someone pushing me and cooking my meals and a chance to win 250,000 dollars it would not be so hard. So I am not sure…is it the fear of failure again, fear of sweating or being out of breath, having to “restrict” what I can not eat or what is it? Maybe all of these…If I figure it out maybe it would be the cure for obesity! Or maybe I am not supposed to “figure it out” and just do the right thing to be healthy.

So am I worth it? Yes and so are you if you struggle with weight issues.

Bye for now,

Hello Friends!

Did you see the Biggest Loser Protein by Designer Whey promo on last night’s show? I did, and I was very excited. I can’t express how happy I am to see my favorite product helping so many people including me! I am finally back on track and am on my way.

I am very disappointed in my lack of keeping up with my healthy me plan. Unfortunately, I gained 10 pounds over the holiday…WHY???? did I do that. Do I not value myself enough to believe I am worth every pound lost?

This year I need to make myself a priority. Hard to do when you’re a mom of 3 busy girls and a wife to a great hubby; not to mention, taking care of our home, pets and all that jazz. But I must and you must take care of our selves.

My motto for ‘09 is… In 2009 I will take care of what is mine… meaning me. I don’t know if you have been watching Oprah this week with her ‘The Best Life Series’ or heard of Dr. Oz who heads up the Best Life Series. Dr. Oz asks everyone to answer these questions in his workbook that you can find on Oprah’s website.

What’s holding you back from getting healthy?

Why are you worthy of getting healthy this year?

What are your specific health goals for 2009 and what hurdles are you concerned about for each goal?

I intend to think about these questions and answer them. Right now I do not know the answers to the questions and when I figure what or how I feel about the questions I will share what my thoughts with you all.

I just want to say again how happy I am for Designer Whey and the Biggest Loser Protein, it is really cool. Did you catch that the contestants on the show exercise for 8 hours a day and walk 14 miles a day? HOLY MOLY…I need to get a treadmill and hook my computer on a stand on it then walk while I blog and chat. Even have my TV there. Treadmills are expensive and I like a lot of us am limited financially right now. So I have added a treadmill on my wish list for 2009.

I hope this finds you all well and know I am thinking about you heal too. Seriously, add a Designer Whey product to your healthy eating plan. Try The Biggest Loser Protein and keep moving forward.

Hello Friends,

Well we all know the holidays are coming and we all know what that means…FOOD and lots of it. Being less then a week from Thanksgiving, start giving your self a pep talk about enjoying ALL the food in taste test samples. Ummm… did Miss Camille say enjoy all the food? Yes I did, but let’s be apart of the abnormal and NOT gain the average 5 pounds during the holidays at the same time not to be left out or feeling bummed because we can’t have something just because it is not our “diet”.

Here’s what I am going to do… I hope you try it too!

Drink a Designer Whey Shake before going to a party.

Use the smaller plates during the festive meals.

NO before meal picking.

NO testing foods while cooking it.

Load your small plate with sample size pieces of the foods you love during the holidays.

Limit drinks to 2 then only drink water.

Carry my Designer Whey 2GO Packets and bottled water in my car so not to run to fast food while shopping.

Park far away from the store entrances to get more walking in.

Limit the candy intake but enjoy a piece.

Load up on fruit and veggie dishes first, then add the rest of the meal.

Take time for myself to unwind from the stress that comes with the holidays.

Enjoy my family.

Have a great weekend!

I want to share about discipline in following our eating plan. When I free eat what I want, I eat way too much and extremely way too many calories. Designer Whey has a very cool diet plan. I have known about it for many months but really did not want to discipline myself to sit down, take the time and effort to use the system. I am going to make it a goal this week to really plan out my meals. The DESIGNER Protein Diet even prints out a grocery list…can we get any easier then that??? Now I even save time by not having to make a grocery list. The planning system is adaptable so I can plan my meals along with what my family likes too!

The other thing I need to do is wear my pedometer it helps me realize the lack of exercise I get and it’s exciting to see it roll over with each step, helping remind me how good life is. If you reach the 10,000 step mark, that is 5 miles a day. There have been several days that I would get about ¼ of that…no wonder I am struggling to lose this weight for as long as I have carried it! It is not rocket science on how to lose weight…the bottom line is you have to burn more calories then what you eat…there is no getting around that. There is no magic pill because I have tried them all. It is disciple and self worth that will help you become the healthiest

Check it out! Use the system.

Plan a program that works for you. The only diets that fail are those designed for everyone… we are made unique, we like different tastes, flavors and cooking styles. It just makes sense to create your own diet that works for you. We know what helps us lose weight; we all have lost hundreds of pounds. Use your knowledge. One plan says get back to the basics, fresh fruits, veggies, and good quality protein. Stay away from processed foods and sugar. Use natural sweeteners if you need them. Drink plenty of water, at the very least 64 ounces.

Can we lose weight and keep it off? YES WE CAN!

Ps. It is snowing here today…wake me up for summer.

I need my readers supporting my journey. In the past the 30 pound mark has been a turn back to gaining mark and I want to avoid that. I am still using my Designer Whey products, which I love! I need to get a new boost of excitement and kick my butt in gear. I need to increase my activity levels.

I feel so guilty as my oldest daughter is struggling too…and the fact it that she is practicing what I have taught her…that is hard to take in…yet, I can’t figure out why that does not motivate me…my goodness, its my girl and I am responsible for her health. I make the food, I buy it. I have no right to not teach her a healthy way to live. Hard to do when I myself have never accomplished that. All I can do is to keep trying.

I am still working at it. Never give up. Can we lose this weight?…YES WE CAN!

Hello Friends,

Hello Friends,

I know it seem like I fell off the face of the earth but I am here. My computer had been disconnected as we remodel one room and moved me to my own area that way no one has to look at my piles… DON’T TOUCH my piles is my motto. That involves also moving the cables and cords; it’s not a simple task of just moving the computer.

We ripped out carpet thinking we had beautiful wood floors under the carpet until we got half way across the room… so now instead of an easy job we are going to have to strip and sand the oak floors… but it will be worth it! I should have warned you all I would be off line but when hubby decided to move my desk it was a take it down now thing.

Good news. I have finally made my 30 pound goal. It sure seemed like moving a ton of bricks, one at time…but my persistence paid off. I like to make goals of 10 pounds at a time so towards the 40 pound mark I am off! I also took a vegan cooking class which is very interesting. I am not vegan but it was fun to explore different taste and most of the food was really great tasting so that helps make it fun to try.

I just love my 2GO packets, I tell ya, you should carry them in your car… then the decision to grab some fast food is all ready made. The 2GO packets are very fast indeed, open a bottle of water then a packet of your favorite 2GO flavor (I like the orange or berry flavors), pour it in and shake… though I will warn you… don’t pour the powder if your window is down and the wind is blowing! You will have powder all over you and the car.

My kids love trick or treating but it really makes it difficult for those of us trying to lose weight and here comes our kids a huge bag of treats. My kids are generous. They know I love Snickers and Reeses, though this year they only shared a few since “…you’re on a diet, Mom”, “…you only get 3″. Which I was kind of glad because when they are gone they are gone. Ya right, I did find my self sneaking an extra treat…shame on me! It seems Halloween starts the seasons of gaining weight. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year then Valentine’s, all holidays where candy and food are involved… UGH…good thing we have our Designer Whey Products to keep us in line with NOT gaining all the weight we usually would.

I sure hope this finds you well,
